We are currently looking for a Senior Benefit Consultant to join our team in Surrey, BC. The Senior Benefit Consultant is responsible for leading and managing an assigned book of business for small to large direct client and Partner Advisor accounts. They will serve as a strategic advisor to clients as well as the Client Services team.


  • Identify a raving fan of your work within 90 days of hire
  • Develop relationships with direct clients within 3 months
  • Develop leadership role with team members in first 3 months
  • Develop relationships with Managers in first 3 months
  • Build relationships with insurers within 3 to 6 months
  • Basic ability with WEBS and CRM systems by 3 months, strong ability by 6 months
  • Set objectives with/for clients in first 4 to 8 months
  • Ongoing mentoring of team on underwriting and consulting services


  • Building relationships with clients by establishing a trusted advisor role with clients; provide consistent, superior relationship management
  • Manage client expectations by delivering excellent consultant service (Wow! Factor) through leadership with a focus on solutions
  • Provide financial, contract and/or administrative analysis and reviews and manage or oversee portions of projects, including reviewing the work of lower level analysts 
  • Data analysis (example includes but is not limited to review claims and utilization data and look for trends and patterns); 
  • Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables 
  • Participate in client calls and meetings as appropriate 
  • Delegate to and review project work of more junior colleagues 
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of clear and concise communications 
  • Understand Health and Benefits products, services and tools including insurers markets; build relationships with insurers in order to understand and compare products and services being offered and recommend solutions to clients 
  • Understand more advanced underwriting and financial skills, Health & Benefit products and GH products and services 
  • Responsibility for the preparation of client reports (renewals, marketing, experience, benchmarking etc) with your assigned team
  • Responsibility for delivering renewals
  • Correspond with insurers on issues and procedures
  • Collaborating with other departments on processes, workflow
  • Raise appropriate issues to Senior Staff
  • Performing other duties as assigned by management

Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years group benefit experience, preferably in consulting role for at least part of it
  • Experience working directly with clients and Partner Advisors/Brokers
  • Underwriting/financial knowledge
